Sights

At Vizari, one can visit the little church of Agios Nikolaos (with its Byzantine wall paintings) and the two wood sculpture workshops that make household and decorative items from olive wood.  The early Christian basilica near the lake reservoir is also of great importance. At Fourfouras, the capital of the Municipality of Kourites, there is an interesting church of Agios Georgios (1411).

At Lampiotes there is a church of Panagia (14^th - 15^th century) which is famous for its exceptional wall paintings.

At Petrohori, it is worth visiting the church of Agioi Apostoloi (1580).

With a little detour from the route, there is a chance to visit the Minoan building block of the early palatial era outside Monastiraki village.

Elenes: Near the village of Elenes and along Platis River, which flows into and divides the little valley of the village, are two flourmills with their imposing "ligata" drowned in the lush green ivies. The primary school, with its pinewood and the reservoir, and the square with its fountain and its abundance of water, are also worth a visit. The church of Agios Nikolaos (13th century) and the cave of Mergeletripa are interesting.

At Nefs Amari, the folklore collection, the local church campanile and the byzantine churches of Agia Anna (1225), Agioi Theodoroi (14^th - 15^th century), Agios Ioannis (12^th - 13^th century) and Panagia Kera are intriguing.

At Opsigias, the churches of Agios Georgios and Agios Dimitrios are worth a visit.

At Fourfouras, the capital of the Municipality of Kourites, there is an interesting church of Agios Georgios (1411).
