Summary of route
The E4 crosses a number of mountainous villages to end up at Anogeia. It passes through archaeological sites of the classical and Venetian eras, Turkish dwellings and monasteries. At Kalivos, clusters of hollies forests are rescued, while Livadia is a big stockbreeding village, built on a hill. The gorges of Davalisimio, Spartofaraggo and Mirtidi are also interesting. The first part of this route goes through a typical Cretan landscape, while the last one crosses an area that has been deserted due to excess grazing.
