Kato Tripodo

Settlement of Margarites. It is built at an altitude of 250 m with a population of 2 residents. Kato Tripodo is older than Ano Tripodo settlement. At Kato Tripodo there was an oracle and a court house long before Ano Tropodo was founded. There is the chapel of Agios Andreas. It took its name from the existence of a table with three legs which was also used as a court table the time where ancient Eleftherna and Aksos were blooming. According to history, these two cities were in constant dispute. Thus, when a fugitive left Aksos, found shelter in Eleftherna. If he was caught in time by the soldiers that were after him, they would send him to court at Tripodo. The court consisted of three judges- one from Aksos, one from Eleftherna and another one from Tripodo. This is why the table was made for three judges.
