Fourfouras

Fourfouras village is the municipal office of the Municipality of Kourites. It is built on a 460 m altitude and has 443 residents. It was mentioned to belong to the county of Amari (Apano Sivrites) in 1577 by Fr. Barozzi Furfura, and by Kastrofilakas with the name Furfura with 225 residents in 1583. In the Egyptian census of 1834 it is mentioned as Furfuras with 40 Christians and 6 Turkish families.

Visitors usually climb up to Psiloreitis from Fourfouras, since it is easier to do so from here.
