Ano Tripodo

Settlement of Margarites of the Municipality of Geropotamos. It is built at an altitude of 260 m with a population of 100 residents. It took its name from the existence of a table with three legs which was also used as a court table during the time where ancient Eleftherna and Aksos were blooming. According to history, these two cities were in constant dispute. Thus, when a fugitive left Aksos, found shelter in Eleftherna. If he was caught in time by the soldiers that were after him, they would send him to court at Tripodo. The court consisted of three judges- one from Aksos, one from Eleftherna and another one from Tripodo. This is why the table was made for three judges. Here, there are the churches of Koimisis Theotokou, the temple of which is of especial beauty and the church of Agia Paraskevi. These are the only two churches of the settlement that are used for the residents' mass. There is also the chapel of Agios Onoufios, built in a cave.
